5 Questions with Tim Plunkett
Tim is an Engineering Manager at Acquia and has been a Drupal developer for over 15 years. His major contributions include helping get Views into core and introducing ConfigEntities, plugins, and the Object Oriented form system. Most recently, he was the co-initiative lead and primary developer of Layout Builder. He works remotely from Philadelphia.
What was your first Drupal website?
My first Drupal website was cs.drexel.edu, a port from Mambo to Drupal 5. The university re-platformed everyone off Drupal years later, but my 2nd Drupal website is still online and using Drupal: wkdu.org, Philadelphia's free-format non-commercial radio station: WKDU 91.7FM
What did you go to college for, and where?
I enrolled at Drexel University for a 5-year program in Computer Science and left after three years. Drexel's CS program was heavily focused on robotics, and once I realized I wanted to pursue web development, I left school to work full-time as a Drupal developer.
Outside of Drupal, what hobbies do you have?
My wife and I are avid concert-goers. We met via the aforementioned college radio station and have each been to over 150 concerts, about 85 of them together.
Lately, my newest hobby is pickleball. The neighborhood in Philadelphia where I live has its local club, and I play about three times a week and have been for almost two years.
What is your favorite sport and team to follow?
Philadelphia sports are an exercise in pain. In the past 12 months, 3 of our teams have lost in the championships (the baseball and soccer team lost their championships on the same day, a first in the sports world). That said, I remain a passionate fan of the Eagles, 76ers, and Phillies, and a casual fan of the Flyers.
Plain or peanut M&M?
Peanut, all day. And not just in contrast to plain, they are my favorite M&M of all the options.
